Superfood Smoothie Bowl

I'm always looking for ways to pack the most nutrition into the breakfast smoothies I make for Scotty and I.  We usually make the same smoothies every morning, a green smoothie for me and a berry banana smoothie for him. No matter the flavor of our smoothies we always include maca, hemp protein, and a little bit of fermented vegetable brine. Hemp protein has been very important in our vegan diet since it is packed with vital amino acids and nutrients. Lately I've also really gotten into eating papaya for skin health and digestive health. Papayas are a perfect prebiotic food and are packed with enzymes that aid in digestion. Theres also tons of vitamin C, folate, fiber, vitamin A, magnesium, and potassium in the papaya fruit. It's amazing the transformation we've seen in our skin and digestive tracts just from switching to a plant based diet, eating nutrient dense raw foods, and eating wild fermented vegetables or brine with every meal for a year.

With a move coming up for us, I had a desire to clean out our freezer. I found some cranberries, blackberries I foraged for earlier in the spring, and Louisiana strawberries. We added in these berries with our smoothie usuals, and ended up with a tart, refreshing, tropical tasting smoothie. Try out the recipe below for a smoothie bowl that will make your skin glow and your gut microbiome very happy!
