Strawberry Banana Brine Smoothie

Adding some fermented sauerkraut brine or fermented pickle brine to smoothies sounds weird but we promise that it is quite delicious! It's a great way to use up some sauerkraut or pickle brine. Just a teaspoon of brine contains millions of probiotic species of bacteria, and it's a dairy-free, low calorie option for getting a large dose of probiotics into  your smoothies! Our brine contains great species of probiotics including  L. plantarum, L. paraplantarum, L. curvatus, L. argentinum, L. delbrueckii,  L. paracasei, L. hammesii, L. acidophilus, L. brevis, L. sakei, L. reuteri. These probiotic bacteria are great for balanced  gut health, therefore great for overall health and wellness!

The salty brine also creates such a nice balanced flavor in the sweet smoothie. Just like a baked chocolate chip cookie, smoothies need a little bit of salt. Scotty loves his strawberry banana combination, so I created a smoothie recipe that tastes great with a little sauerkraut brine added. Try it out for breakfast of a cool mid-day treat!
